Introduced by Paul Doyle of library services, Roy entertained his audience with lively and frequently humorous recollections of life in the Bryn Amman Valleys, his family heritage and his career.

Before the hour-long talk, Roy spent time talking to friends and fans, and he concluded the visit by signing copies of his new book, Noble Ways: Lay-bys in My Life.

The event took place at the newly refurbished library, which offers a new range of facilities and a new look.

Over the coming weeks, Adult Learners Fortnight will include a wide range of talks on subjects including Reiki, meditation, unsolved mysteries and old Aberafan, and climaxing with a talk on the Borgias by local historian and novelist Sally Jones.

Full details are available from the library on 01639 763490.
