The certification of the Passion film The Gospel Of Us has been confirmed as 12A for its Port Talbot premiere, the film production company has said.
Soda Pictures, which is promoting the film, confirmed late last night that they had received the certification from Neath Port Talbot Council’s licensing committee.
The decision means that any children under the age of 12 will be able to go to see the film, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
There had been concerns that the certificate would be issued as a 15, and that may still be a possibility for future screenings when the film receives its official certificate from the British Board of Film Classification.
“A 15 certificate would have meant refunding people who had bought children’s tickets,” said Eve Carter, Assistant Manager at Apollo Port Talbot. “But now there’s no problem, as long as children under 12 are with someone over the age of 18.”
Tickets for the world premiere screening at Port Talbot’s Apollo cinema have already been on sale for weeks, with the first screening selling out in just four hours.
Apollo cinemas have now made their six screens available for the film, and four of them have sold out.
“There are still tickets available,” said Eve Carter, “but they are selling quickly.”
Meanwhile, Soda Pictures have also confirmed a further three screenings at venues across Port Talbot over Easter weekend. They are:
- The Four Winds Hotel, Sunday April 8, 8.30pm
- Seaside Social Club, Monday April 9, 3pm
- Taibach Rugby Club, Monday April 9, 4pm
Ticket arrangements and prices for these screenings are available from the individual venues.
