THE WORLD premiere of the film of Michael Sheen’s The Passion will take place in Port Talbot this Easter.
The film, called The Gospel of Us, will be screened across several locations in the town, though organisers ar e staying tight-lipped about where the screenings will be.
National Theatre Wales also confirmed today that they will host a “memory” event over the same weekend to mark the anniversary of the award-winning production.
The Observer called the production “one of the outstanding theatrical events not only of this year, but of the decade”, and Michael Sheen and Bill Mitchell won the Theatre Awards UK’s best director gong for their direction of The Passion.
A spokeswoman for National Theatre Wales said: “Everyone and anyone who saw the production or were involved in it will be invited to share their memories, their photographs, video and film, and their stories, for a multi-media exhibition which will be held in the town’s shopping centre.”
She also confirmed that Michael Sheen would attend the event.
“The Passion’s star and co-director Michael Sheen and other cast members will be sharing their own memories at the event, and the world premiere of Dave McKean’s film of the production, The Gospel of Us, will take place in the town.”
National Theatre Wales has said more details will be made public over the coming weeks.
